Radio Shows
WFMU hosts Mr. Finewine's “Downtown Soulville”. A show with a very strong bias towards funky and R&B flavoured Soul of the Southern variety. No Northern Soul stompers here.
Also at WFMU. If rough 'n' ready R&B and primitive Rock 'n' Roll is your bag you'll probably get along fine with Rex Doane's “Fools Paradise” replete with 50s sc-fi effects and "reefer madness" style sound clips.
Two Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae shows for the price of one here Skinhead Dean and Matlocks and also further down the page Door Peeper and Port O Jam P
Radio 6 has the rather good Craig Charles funk show.Amongst all the Parliament tracks Charles' show includes R&B Blues, Jazz, Gospel and anything else that takes his fancy. Northern Soul stompers played too.
Radio 2 has the Beebs one man retro music policy adherent in the form of Mark Lamarr. Mark Lamarr is currently keeping the faith with his Thursday evening show “Shake, Rattle and Roll”. Plenty of rockin' R&B. Definitely no Northern Soul stompers.
DIY Soul and R&B radio courtesy of "Boogaloo Radio". Excellent selection of tunes. The show is updated on a weekly basis.
Audio Streams, Sound Clips etc.
The Soul Club Jukebox is a good place to browse for a bit of Soul. A searchable archive of hundreds of rare tunes. More Northern Soul stompers than you can shake a very large stick at.
Ska and Rocksteady wise we have the Dance Crasher site. Only sound clips, not whole tunes but well worth a visit.
